'Cognition of the Effulgent'
by Swami Atmananda (India)

Please Note: Meeting starts at 2 p.m.

This talk will deal with an extremely important component of Self-Knowledge, not knowing which
all our efforts for the direct realisation go in vain. Experience of Inert and Experience of
Effulgent are two entirely different things. The former pertains to 'all the objects of the
world - which are basically inert' and are in the domain of 'Seen'; while the latter deals with
the Knowledge of Self - which is consciousness and thus Self-effulgent, this pertains to the
'Seer'. The thought process in the knowledge of both are entirely different, and a person who is
not aware of this uniqueness of the Cognition of the effulgent, keeps applying the systems of the
cognition of the inert even when trying to know the Seer, and this itself becomes the obstruction.
So it is extremely important to realize the unique dynamics pertaining to the cognition of the
effulgent vis-à-vis cognition of the Inert. The cognition process for inert things keeps us
fragmented, while the cognition process pertaining to the effulgent breaks the barrier of
fragmentation and culminates in the so called 'Akandakar-Vritti and Aparokshanubhuti' - the
direct Self-Knowledge. This is an important technical and subtle point, which is a 'must-know' by
all seekers of the truth.

Swami Atmananda is the founder of the Vedanta Mission in Indore, India, set up to share the
wisdom of Vedanta with the world. Swami is a well known scholar of Vedanta giving lectures on the Gita,
Upanishads and other Vedantic scriptures regularly all over India and abroad. Swami has designed special
Workshops on Stress Management wherein he has inculcated the wisdom of the Gita to help eliminate
stress. These have been used by various industrial groups, banks etc. for their executives and other personnel.
Swami personally uses the Computer and Internet in a big way and has designed several Web Sites, started
Mailing Lists and Discussion Forums offering guidance and counselling to spiritual seekers all over the world.
Swami set up the first ever e-zine of Vedanta and Sanatan Dharma. Swami loves to tread an
unbeaten spiritual path and is creatively discovering new ways and means to take the message of Vedanta to one
and all. Swami walks alone, and loves to take challenges and devotes whole-heartedly to whatever task
he has undertaken.

‘Developing Your Intuition’
by Christian Bodhi
(London)
Intuition is essential on the spiritual path and is the next step in human evolution. This talk will deal with three main questions: what is intuition, how to unblock the intuitive abilities we already have and how to further develop it. We will explore many practical and intricate subjects, like the relationship between the aura and intuition and the work with the spiritual force.

Christian Bodhi is the Director of Website Development, the Editor of the Ezine and a National Lecturer for the Theosophical Society in England.

'The Chord of Perfection’
by Timothy Wyatt
(Bradford)
Many of the world’s religions are in crisis, warring against each other and frequently among themselves. In Christianity mainstream churches are emptying while fundamentalist sects thrive. Yet despite their huge outward differences all religions are founded on the same timeless spiritual truths and ageless wisdom. So why are there such conflicts? The lecture looks at how all religious belief systems combine into a coherent “chord of perfection”. It argues that unearthing the esoteric side of different faiths can help liberate the ancient universal knowledge on which they are based. And this may accelerate humanity’s graduation towards a harmonious
world wisdom-religion.

Timothy Wyatt is an author, freelance writer, journalist, lecturer and broadcaster who has been exploring mysticism since the 1970s. Timothy is a member of Bradford Theosophical Society and a National Lecturer for the Theosophical Society in England.
